Urinary free cortisol test or UFC test is another name for a cortisol urine test. This test calculates the 24-hour average cortisol level in your pee. A hormone called cortisol is produced by adrenal glands which are found above the kidneys. As a response to both physical and emotional stress the glands release this hormone. Throughout the day cortisol levels naturally rise and fall. The hormone is often at its peak level in the morning and at its lowest level at midnight. Depending on the person this might change.
