The beta-2 glycoprotein antibody is found in the blood via the beta-2 glycoprotein 1 IgG serum test. These antibodies, which are often referred to as antiphospholipid antibodies, are understood to target the bodys own phospholipids (lipid proteins) and platelets. The primary purposes of this test are to determine the origin of thrombosis (unexplained blood clots), recurrent miscarriages, and antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). It is typically ordered in conjunction with other tests like lupus anticoagulant and cardiolipin antibody. The test is prescribed if you exhibit any APS symptoms, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), stroke, transient ischemic episodes (TIA), preeclampsia, or repeated miscarriages during pregnancy. This test may occasionally be suggested for lupus patients to screen their blood for certain autoantibodies.
