The term anti nuclear antibody-IFA test refers to an ANA test that uses the indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) approach to find ANA in blood. Autoantibodies, or ANAs, assault the bodys healthy cells and harm muscles, joints, and other body parts. People who are at risk for or who have autoimmune diseases such rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune hepatitis, scleroderma, or systemic lupus erythematosus are advised to get this test (SLE). A small amount of ANA is present in the blood of most people, but excessive ANA levels may indicate an autoimmune disorder.
