The triple test is another name for the triple marker screen test. It examines the likelihood that an unborn child will have particular genetic diseases. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) and estriol are three significant chemicals in the placenta whose levels are measured during the examination. A blood test is used to administer triple marker screening. It is advised for expectant women who are 15 to 20 weeks along. The quadruple marker screen test, which includes examines a chemical known as inhibin A, is an alternative to this test.
