A waxy molecule called cholesterol supports healthy cell activity. A class of molecules known as lipoproteins made of a combination of fat and protein transport cholesterol throughout the body in the blood. Lipoproteins of several types transport cholesterol through the blood. This examination calculates the bloods VLDL concentration. Some cholesterols, such as LDL and VLDL, can cause the arteries to become clogged with fatty deposits called plaques, which is a condition known as atherosclerosis. Ones chance of developing heart disease, stroke and other illnesses can rise as a result of this plaque buildup.
