A cephalometric X-ray, also known as a ceph, is a diagnostic radiograph primarily used for orthodontic treatment planning. It is taken during the orthodontic records appointment and provides a side view of the patient's head, exposing the teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures. This type of X-ray is also used by otolaryngologists to examine the patient's airways.
