A volumetric dataset is created using the three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound technology from conventional 2D grayscale ultrasound pictures. After then, the 3D picture may be viewed retrospectively. The method was created to help with problem-solving (especially in obstetric/gynecologic tests) and to perhaps lessen the operator dependency of ultrasound imaging.
