A dual Marker Test is given to pregnant women to determine any chromosomal malformation in the foetus. This test screens for Down Syndrome, Patau Syndrome and Edward Syndrome in the developing fetus using maternal blood as the sample. This includes Dual marker - PAPP-A and Free Beta HCG. If high risk aneuploidy is reported, then either NIPS or Karyotyping-FISH of amniotic fluid/CVS is done. This test is Recommended at gestational age of 8 to 13.6 weeks.
