Repetitive nerve stimulation tests are a special type of nerve conduction study. A brief series of small electrical shocks is applied to a nerve. This electrical stimulation is delivered to the nerve repeatedly for a few seconds and the responses are recorded from the muscle supplied by that nerve. The study is generally performed before and after a brief exercise of the muscle.
