The diagnosis of Alpha-1-Antitrypsin Deficiency is made via an Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (AAT) blood test (AATD). The liver produces the alpha-1-antitrypsin protein, which defends the lungs from several infections. The signs of AATD include breathing difficulties, abrupt weight loss, exhaustion, frequent respiratory infections, pale complexion, high liver enzyme levels, abdominal edoema, and jaundice. An inherited condition is AATD. A particular gene contributes to the production of the AAT protein. A gene mutation results in AATD and its associated problems. AATs typical plasma concentration in healthy persons varies from 80 mg/dL to 220 mg/dL. In an individual with severe AAT insufficiency, the protein concentration is approximately 60 mg/dL.
